Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth generally erupt between the ages of 17 and 25.

This may occur without incident, but for many wisdom teeth may become impacted if there is insufficient space in your mouth.

An impacted tooth can cause damage to adjacent teeth, your gums or jaw.  They may cause a gum infection resulting in pain and swelling.  Even if they are pain free, they may also cause damage without you knowing.

To know if you are at risk, you may be referred for a special x-ray. This will provide us with the exact location of your wisdom teeth from which we can develop a tailored treatment plan. Depending on your personal situation we may remove your wisdom teeth at our practice under a local anaesthetic or you may be referred to a specialist.

Call us today if you are concerned about your wisdom teeth or those of your children.
